Coach Duaa is back this week with more useful tips for me and my blog readers! As she explains, over the years, she have been asked this question many times, “Do you suffer from water retention?”
“I do so much cardio and follow my diet and training strictly, but I still have a flab of fat covering my abs! What’s wrong with me?!”
Possible answer:
This layer of flab that you might think is fat covering your abs could actually be Subcutaneous fluid. Also known as, water weight.
How to test this???
Pinch the skin on your lower abdominal area, slightly pull it and let go. If it shakes and ripples than you are carrying water weight.
So, how do you get rid of this excess fluid or water?
1. DRINK PLENTY WATER.
Tip: This will allow your metabolism to function more efficiently; drinking more water will cause your body to release the excess water it’s holding on too.
2. SUPPLEMENT WITH A MULTI-VITAMIN.
Tip: Multivitamins contain great sources of nutrients and minerals that help flush out access water.
3. SWEAT! SWEAT! SWEAT! AND SWEAT SOME MORE!
Tip: The more sweat excretes from your body during your workouts or activities, the more water your body will release from “stubborn fatty” areas due to the extreme heat of the temperature in your body. You can even use the sauna a few times a week, to get rid of the water layer trapped under the skin.
4. DON’T CONSUME A LOT OF SALT!
Tip: Keep your sodium moderate, and replace excess salt with spices such as garlic, ginger, black pepper, chives, or anything else your taste buds desire!
5. EAT PLENTY OF FIBER!
Tip: Just like water, which cleanses the urinary tract and kidneys, fiber also cleanses the colon/intestinal tract, keeping things moving along smoothly, aiding in the removal of excess fluids.
6. WHEN DRINKING COFFEE OR TEA, DRINK A GLASS OF WATER AFTER IT.
Tip: Drinking coffee and tea de-hydrates the body. So you need to rehydrate by drinking a glass of water along with your beverage.
