While in Tromso last March to see the Northern Lights (Aurora) with my sister Fulla and Friend Nosa50 we planned to visit the Northernmost Mosque there on our last day before the day we left the city, which happened to fall on a Friday… Perfect
بشهر مارس الماضي سافرت مع أختي فلة و صديقتي شيماء إلى ترومسو بالنرويج لرؤية الشفق القطبي بس من ضمن مخططاتنا للرحلة إن نزور المسجد و نصلي فيه… و هذا المسجد يعتبر الأعلى شمالا في كوكب الأرض و التجربة ما تتطوف. قررنا نروح باليوم الأخير قبل السفرة و من حظنا إنه كان يوم جمعة… منها نصلي فيه و منها نسمع الخطبة
It was one snowy day, and we decided to walk, as per Google Maps… it wasn’t a very long walk
كان الجو بارد و الثلج ينزل بغزارة بس قررنا نمشي لأن حسب العم غوغل المسجد ما كان بعيد
Google did not have the exact same location, but from the images I have seen on Google I walked to one of the buildings on that street
للأسف الموقع على غوغل ما كان مضبوط مية بالمية بس لأني شايفة صور بالنت شبهت على أحد المباني
I saw a mailbox with Arabic names on it
وصلت و شفت أسماء عربية على صندوق البريد
Good! That means we’re close right?
خلاص وصلنا خير
We knocked at the door but no one answered! It was a letdown but why not take a pic at the door! Suddenly I saw a veiled woman and I quickly said “Assalamu Alaykum”! I asked her about the mosque, she led me to the door… YAY! Here it is
طقينا الباب بس محد رد علينا… ضاق خلقي الصراحة بس قلنا يالله نصور يم الباب ذكرى عالأقلل… فجأة مرت وحدة متحجبة و على طول سلمت عليها… سألتها وين المسجد و دلتني عالباب
It reads”Masjid AlRahma” and we were looking for Al Noor Center, but we thought this is it & the center would be just an Islamic center there… then a guy approached me and asked “Muslim?” I said yes! He asked “Arab?” I said yes I am! He introduced himself, a man from Libya living in Tromso, and he was shocked that we came all the way from Kuwait XD No idea why LOL! Anyways, he said if we walk further up the street then turn right we’d reach the big mosque with the ladies prayers area
أنا االلي أذكره إن إسم المسجد مركز النور بس قلت يمكن المسجد إسمه الرحمة و تابع له مركز النور… شافني واحد عربي و سألني إذا كنت عربية و مسلمة و استغرب إن إحنا من الكويت! المهم هو من ليبيا و كان حبوب… قال لنا إذا كملوا بالشارع و أخذوا يمين توصلون مركز النور و هو اللي فيه مصلى للنساء… ما قصر أخونا الليبي

و أخيرا وصلنا مركز النور
We knocked the door and an older man opened the door! He guided us to the women’s prayer area and said that we have one hour till Friday prayers. So we went in… and it’s customary to perform the greeting prayer, and waited
طقينا الباب و فتحه لنا واحد سوري كبير بالسن و دلنا على مصلى النساء… قال باقي ساعة تقريبا على صلاة الجمعة. صلينا ركعتين تحية المسجد و نطرنا

The Imam speech was about how to spend wisely when it comes to money and knowledge! Very inspiring… I was so happy that I got the chance to pray in the Northernmost Mosque with people from all around the world!
خطبة الجمعة كانت عن الإنفاق في سبيل الله… بالمال و العلم و الجاه! الحمدلله كانت خوش تجربة للصلاة بأعلى مسجد مع إمام أفريقي و مصلين من كل دول العالم و خطبة بالعربي تلتها خطبة باللغة النرويجية
