One of the biggest highlights of this year to me was traveling to Tromso, Norway to see the Northern Lights (and I will post about that soon). During that trip we did some other activities too… one of which was going on a mini cruise in the Arctic Ocean and fishing. We went to the Marina at 10:00AM as planned and was greeted by the very friendly Kurt & Fabiane who took us cruising the ocean that day

من أجمل لحظات هذه السنة بالنسبة لي كانت رؤية أضواء الشمال (الشفق القطبي) في ترومسو بالنرويج و إن شاء الله بحط لكم صور من الرحلة. طبعا الرحلة كلها كانت ممتعة و شيقة و سوينا فيها أكثر من نشاط… مثل رحلة بحرية بالمحيط الشمالي مع صيد الأسماك. رحنا المارينا عالـ 10 الصبح و استقبلنا كيرت و زوجته فابيانا باليخت

Kurt is from Norway and his wife Fabiane is from Brazil. He spoke English amazingly, but Fabiane was so so sweet and friendly… smiling the whole time. She would communicate with us using sign language and some English words, or through my sister Anfal, who speaks Spanish fairly well. On board we met friendly Dutch mother and son. Fabiane was cooking fish soup for us, they said it would be ready by the time we head back to the port

كيرت من النرويج و انجليزيته ممتازة و زوجته فابيانا من البرازيل… إنسانة بشوشة مبتسمة طول الوقت! كنا نتفاهم معاها عن طريق أختي أنفال اللي تعرف تتكلم أسباني. و معانا بالرحلة أم و ولدها من هولندا. فابيانا ببداية الرحلة كانت تطبخ لنا الغدا… شوربة سمك و قالوا لنا بتكون جاهزة لما نرجع وقت الغدا

And as the song goes “It’s A Small World After All” I’ll tell you that… It is REALLY a small world after all!!! The lady from Holland on the cruise saw our Kuwaiti flag and asked “Where are you guys from?” We said “Kuwait” and she burst into laughter… My husband works in Q8 in Kuwait City!!! Can’t get any smaller XD

و لما يقولون الدنيا صج صغيرة ما جذبوا! تصدقون إن الهولندية شافتنا ماسكين أعلام الكويت و سألتنا من أي ديرة!؟ طلع ريلها يشتغل بالكويت بأحد شركات النفط!!! عالم صغير جدا

A day well spent with an amazing company… me, my sister Anfal, friend Shayma, Kurt, Fabiane, and the Dutch family! Cruising, fishing, site seeing, not much of wild life to see (Orca whales already migrated)… but we saw eagles 😀 And we saw some ruins of a ship from World War II

المهم كان يوم ممتع غالآخر… خذنا جولة بحرية بالمحيط و كانت خوش صحبة: معاي أنفال أختي و صديقتنا شيماء و أصحاب اليخت و العايلة الهولندية. شفنا بعض الصقور بس ما شفنا الحيتان لأنهم كانوا مهاجرين بوقت زيارتنا! ما نطرونا! و شفنا حطام سفينة من الحرب العالمية الثانية! اللي متابعيني على سناب جات شافوا الرحلة لايف

Anyways… the fishing! First one to catch a fish was Anfal

المهم… إلى الحداق! و أول وحدة صادت سمك هي أختي أنفال

She caught a cod that Kurt wanted to save for the fish soup they’re making for the next cruise!

صادت كود و قال كيرت إن بيطبخونها للرحلة اللي بعدنا… عليهم بالعافية

On the other hand, the other cod fish we caught were small… we had to return them to the ocean to grow some more

أسماك الكود اللي صدناها كانت صغيرة و اضطرينا نرجعهم المحيط عشان يربون و يصيرون أكبر

But look at this monster… a Wolffish! HUGE and aggressive

الهولندي صاد وولف فيش عملاااااق يخرع

الصراحة الرحلة و الصحبة كانت أكثر من رائعة – إذا تحبون هالسوالف شوفوا حسابهم لكل أنشطتهم على مدار السنة

On our way back we were served bread, butter, and a yummy fish soup! Although we’ve had fish soup almost everyday in Tromso, this one was the yummiest of all  – Thanks Fabiane, Obrigada

طبعا شوربة السمك طفحنا منها بهالرحلة بس للأمانة شوربة فابيانا كانت ألذ وحدة من اللي جربناهم

 Boat was clean and fully equipped with WC and a kitchenette! You are served snacks, tea/coffee throughout the trip. They give you full gear: warmsuits/wind breakers, life jackets, and special shoes to walk outside and on top of the boat. WC in the main area with a kitchenette where Fabiane cooked our fish soup. Kurt was awesome! He kept an eye on us the whole time, making sure everything was good! He can multi-task for sure; cruising, fishing, taking pictures, giving info… just amazing!

باختصار… اليخت كان نظيف و مجهز بالكامل… تكرمون فيه حمام و مطبخ تحضيري. كانوا حاطين لنا مكسرات و كاكاو و مكان لتحضير القهوة و الشاي. يوفرون لكم لبس دافيء و عوامات ضد الغرق و أحذية خاصة للتجول باليخت. كيرت كان ممتاز و يقدر يسوي أكثر من شغلة بنفس الوقت ما بين تعليم قيادة اليخت و الحداق و التصوير و إعطاء معلومات شيقة
