On one of my trips to Dubai, Lulu (my bestie), Bader (her brother in law), and I went to Rue 71 Patisserie & Tearoom in The City Walk. The place is famous for pastries of course, homemade “style” cakes, and a wide range of speciality teas and coffees.

قبل فترة رحت دبي مع صديقتي لولو و التقينا بحماها (أخو زوجها) في الـ سيتي ووك بكافيه أسمه رو 71 – مشهور بالمخبوزات و المعجنات و الكيك و قائمة بأنواع من الشاي و القهوة التخصصية

As Bader explained… they have one of the best milk cakes (Tres Leches = three milks) in town! I am lactose intolerant and I avoid dairy-based products as much as I can, but I happen to have my lactaids with me so why not!! So basically a milk cake is a sponge cake soaked in milk (condensed, evaporated, and regular milk together because its so sweet). So its very moist in texture! It’s the new IT cake for some reason, although Nino and St. AlMakan served those cakes long time ago

بدر قال لنا عندهم ألذ كيك بالحليب (الهبة الحالية بالكويت و يسمونها تريز ليتشي مع إن مطعم المكان و نينو يسويها من زمان) لأنها محضرة بثلاث أنواع حليب منها المحلى و المبخر و العادي… عاد أنا عندي مشكلة مع منتجات الحليب فلازم آخذ مكمل غذائي يساعدني إني أهضم اللاكتوز

Bader wanted to order a milk cake, but the manager said he wanted us to try the Lavender Milk Cake – I guess it was new on the menu or something! I usually am picky with “Lavender based food items” because sometimes I feel they give you a soap-y after taste, plus… it’s an acquired taste! I was like let me have just one bite, but it was good that I took a couple more bits XD

بدر كان في باله نطلب نكهة معينة بس مدير الكافيه اقترح نجرب اللافندر – أتوقع نكهة جديدة عندهم. دايما مع هالنكهة أخاف يطلع لي طعم صابون أو سبا هاهاهاها و خاصة إن مثل هذه النكهات تعتمد بشكل كبير على حاسة الطعم المكتسب… قلت باخذ لقمة وحدة… بس يازت لي فكملتها بلقمتين زيادة! الكيكة تحسونها مغرقة بالحليب بس متماسكة بقوامها

And since I took lactaids, I ordered a piccolo to go along with it… It was all good! I mean we enjoyed our time together! The cake was interesting! The cafe had this European feel to it. The manager and staff were friendly too… they actually wanted to bring another cake to try but we wanted to have dinner later on so we said some other time! Next time I’m in Dubai I want to try their much talked about breakfast 😉

الكافيه يحمل نمط أوربي بتصميمه و الموظفين كانوا وايد حليوين معانا – كان ودهم يقدمون لنا كيكة ثانية منهم بس ما كنا نبي نثقل لأن ورانا عشا. إن شاء الله إذا رحت دبي بجرب ريوقهم… يقولون لذيذ
