I’ve covered parts of Old Dubai on my Snapchat quite a few time… Deira, Karama, Bastakiya Area… and beyond! I love Old Dubai and it gives that sense of belonging to the place because I lived in Dubai for almost a year during the Iraqi Invasion in the 1990s! I sense that flavor there and I have memories of some places too! Let me take you on a virtual tour to explore the older city

My dad said “Let’s tour the city on foot” Why not? The weather was amazing

أبوي اقترح أن تكون جولتنا مشيا على الأقدام لأن الجو كان جميل في ذلك اليوم

We wanted to walk around the city for a while, then head to “Al Khor” (The Dubai Creek) to take the “Abra” boat back to our hotel

كان اقتراحه إن نتمشى لي السوق و عقب نروح الخور و ناخذ العبرة للمحطة القريبة من فندقنا

Shopped here and there… very friendly atmosphere! I have been there few times and one of which was with my Emirati cousin Laila <3 She talks about those places with passion and have a special place in her heart for that part of the city… I can totally relate

We got our “Nol” card passes. They are basically cards issued by RTA (Roads and Transports Authority) to travel on Dubai’s metro, buses, water-buses, and trams

That trip to Dubai was spent mostly in Deira… I didn’t go to the malls, or to new hit places or restaurants! I enjoyed this part of the city with my dad so much

تدرون إن بهذي السفرة ما طبيت و لا مول و لا رحت المطاعم الجديدة… قضيت معظم وقتي مع أبوي في ديرة

I traveled with luggage weight of 12.1KG and came back with the exact same weight!!!
